Biography (English): Gary Michael Dault is a Toronto writer, artist and art critic. He has taught at a number of Canadian universities and has written for many newspapers and magazines including Azure, Canadian Art, Toronto Life, Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. He currently writes the "Gallery Going" column every Saturday for the Globe and Mail.

Biography (English): David Donnell was a Canadian poet and writer. Donnell moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1958 before publishing his first book. Poems (1961), During this period Donnell frequented the Bohemian Embassy, where Margaret Atwood, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Milton Acorn, and other poets established their reputations. In conjunction with John Robert Colombo, Donnell printed Atwood's first book Double Persephone (1961) Donnell Published The Blue Sky poems 1974-77 examining the relationships of his life from an oblique perspective, then Dangerous Crossings (1980) followed by A Poem About Poland.
Donnell won the Canadian Comic Poet Award in 1981, and the 1983 Governor General's Award for English language poetry for his collection Settlements. Donnell continued publishing with Water Street days (1989) where he examines his past and his childhood; the poems are narrative confessions; and China blues (1992). Donnell's poetry offers perspectives about city life and the stresses and ironic staples of urban life. Donnell's poetry is known for its escalating fascination with prose fiction that becomes more dominant in the final sections of China Blues and Water Street Days, and becoming an important feature in his publishing of Dancing In The Dark (1996). David Donnell also received the Therafields Chapbook Award in 1986 and the City of Toronto Book Award in 1993.

Biography (English): Patti Durr graduated with a bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College in 1985 and pursued her masters at the University of Rochester in 1986. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural and Creative Studies for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. She helped found Lights On! Deaf Theatre in 1991 and has since produced numerous films for NTID/RIT. Durr was awarded RIT's Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2004. Most recently, she was the artistic director of the first Deaf Rochester Film Festival in 2005.

Biography (English): Paul Fournier is Canadian artist. In 1959, Fournier moved to Toronto as a student studying at Ontario College of Art. In the 1960s, he was invited by George Wallace to study printmaking at McMaster University and would later become an artist in residence at Wilfrid Laurier University from 1969-1970. Over the course of his career Fournier has had major solo exhibitions in Toronto, Guelph, Hamilton, Edmonton, Houston and Washington, D.C. In 1996, Fournier received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. His paintings and works on paper can be found in many major public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, as well as in private collections throughout Canada, the USA and Europe.
Throughout his career, Fournier has been influenced by his surroundings and the natural world. Fournier’s compositions explore a diverse range of subject matter in a completely unique way, from geological formations and underwater ecosystems to cosmic and atmospheric events caused by weather and light. Fournier invites the viewer into his fantastical worlds through his use of abstraction, bold colours, painterly brush strokes and diverse technical application.

Biography (English): After service in the United States Army Medical Corps from 1962-65, Jim Hansen graduated from Kent State University, Ohio, in 1969, with a major in studio arts and a double minor in biology and chemistry.
He moved to Newfoundland in 1970 and became senior technician at the School of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Hansen has exhibited across Canada and the United States and has had his films shown in Brussels. In addition to being part of the Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labradors Permanent Collection, his art work can be found in major public collections including the National Gallery of Canada, the Canada Council Art Bank and the Museum of Modern Art.

Biography (English): Deeter Hastenteufel studied Commercial Art, at the School Of Applied Arts in Gelsenkirchen, Germany from 1958-1960, Graphics at the Werkkunstschule in Krefeld Germany in 1961. He then worked as a Commercial Artist until 1964. Studied General Fine Art and Painting at the Werkkunstschule in Wuerzburg in 1964, Sculpture and Ceramic-mural at the Academy of Fine Art in Stuttgart, Germany, form 1965 to Graduation in 1968, the year in which he emigrated to Canada.

Biography (English): Jacques Hurtubise was a Canadian abstract painter. He studied painting at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. Already by 1960, at age 21, he had his first major show at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. He spent much of the 1960s living in New York City and becoming part of the abstract expressionist scene there. His art at that time combined geometric forms with splashed paint, and he experimented with fluorescent colors and neon light art. In the early 1970s his compositions were based on square forms, but by the late 1970s they shifted to linear patterns that resembled abstract landscapes. His later work featured "deep-black pools, rivers and geometric forms that often mask upside-down maps and text."
His many awards included the grand prize for painting at the 1965 Concours Artistique du Québec, the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award of the Canada Council for the Arts in 1992, and the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas from the Québec government in 2000.

Il a passé une grande partie des années 1960 à vivre à New York et à y faire partie de la scène expressionniste abstraite. Son art de l’époque combinait des formes géométriques avec des éclaboussures de peinture, et il expérimentait les couleurs fluorescentes et l’art des néons. Au début des années 1970, ses compositions étaient basées sur des formes carrées, mais à la fin des années 1970, elles évoluèrent vers des motifs linéaires ressemblant à des paysages abstraits. Ses travaux ultérieurs présentaient « des bassins, des rivières et des formes géométriques d'un noir profond qui masquent souvent des cartes et des textes à l'envers ».

Biography (English): Carole Itter is a Canadian artist, writer, performer and filmmaker. Itter attended the Vancouver School of Art in 1961, which was renamed as the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 1978 and then renamed again to the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2008. She later became an instructor at the university. She attended the L'Accademia di Bella Arti in Rome in 1964.
Itter's sculptures, assemblages, collages, installations, performances and writings are strongly influenced by the people and places where she has lived, and frequently reflect social and political issues. She herself is represented in the collections of the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Vancouver Public Library and the Canada Council Art Bank.
In 1989 Itter received the VIVA (Vancouver Institute of Visual Arts) Award. In 2017 she received the Audain Prize in Visual Art.
