Simons was a radical priest who broke away from the Catholic Church in 1536 defending the Anabaptist movement, preaching amongst other things, pacifism and a belief in adult rather than infant baptism. His followers are the Mennonites, a protestant group that exists today.

Description: Human Nature: Suffolk, England: View of the fields near the Blythe estuary at Bulcamp Drift, Suffolk, England. It is said that 10,000 years ago this area was joined to Friesland which is now 150 miles across the water. It was also said that various craters such as the one in the foreground were caused by the dropping of excess bombs during the Second World War. However a recent communication from a local resident has set this theory aside. I quote Simon Loftus: "I, too, always believed that the various craters around the estuary were ... caused by German planes offloading their bombs as they were pursued by English fighters, But some years ago I mentioned this to Dudley Wythe, who was born on the farm and lived and worked here for most of his life - and he told me that they were in fact sandpits, dug out by the farm workers long ago when the largest expanses of the tidal estuary were still marshland grazing, protected by the then-intact river walls. At various places in those marsh meadows it used to get quite boggy, particularly at the intersections between one meadow and another where the cattle crowded through the gates (you can still see some of the old gateposts standing in the mudflats) - so they would dig out cartloads of sand to spread there, to make it passable. If you look closely at most of the 'craters' you can see that one side is more gently ramped than the rest, where the carts were loaded."
