He Named Her Amber
Artist: Iris Häussler
Work ID: 80163
Description: He Named Her Amber was presented as an excavation into The Grange, the first home of the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. It told the story of an Irish 19th century maid who ostensibly hid self-made waxen artefacts in the foundations of the mansion. Visitors encountered the archaeologist’s undertaking to retrieve, assess and prepare the artefacts for an exhibition and to investigate into Amber's life. They learned after their visit that this complex project was a contemporary artwork.

Monopati
Artist: Iris Häussler
ID : 80156
Description: Two fictitious living situations were installed simultaneously in apartments in Berlin and Munich, Germany. The keys could be obtained at a nearby gallery. Visitors encountered reactions of two elderly women to their surroundings. In Munich, the apartment overflowed with piles of plaster casts and molds of the hands and feet of young children. In Berlin, thousands of archived pieces of fabric built a collection of dust from the street. A yellowed class-photograph was seen in both apartments, hinting at a shared biography.

Therese Weingarten
Artist: Iris Häussler
ID : 80158
Description: The installation in the baroque Monastery in Weingarten, Germany contained the dowry of a woman who left her homeland after the Second World War and never returned. What did come back, condensed into black embroidery on the sheets that covered the stored furniture, were her embroidered thoughts. Pulling back the sheets from the furniture, one could find personal items frozen in their time, the 1950s.
